
Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has in continuation of the State organised mass wedding expended N3.4 million as dowry for 1,520 marriages. Each gets N20,000.
Governor Ganduje sponsored for 720 special attires for the brides and the grooms.
The state also sponsored for what the tradition ordained at the disposal of the new brides and grooms of millions of naira.
This annual mass wedding of is the fifth since the previous administration started it and the numbers were drawn from across the 44 local governments in the Kano.
Speaking during the state ceremony for the brides and groom organised by the Kano State government and held at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, governor Ganduje described the mass wedding as another way of reaching out to the governed.
According to him this years mass wedding has deviated a bit from what obtained in immediate administration as the issue of fine tuning played significant role where the brides and grooms undergoes five different medical examinations of illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, Sickle Cell, Hepatitis and pregnancy test.
