The former minister of information and Communication and also environment, Chief John Odey, has described the lingering leadership tussle in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as pure politics.

Odey being emphatic on reorganisation of the party said members of the party and Nigerians should not lose sleep over the developments experienced in the party.

Also speaking on the crisis rocking the party the former national publicity secretary of the party said chieftains, members and supporters are to walk together to actualise the dream of the party in order to win back the confidence of the people but if not the party may experience mass exodus if it fails to do the needful.

He said: “To me, the party should reorganise itself that is the process now and that is what we are doing. I also see crisis if we do not reorganise ourselves within and there will be crisis because there are several political parties people will move to.

“For us politicians the terrain is always rough and when it happen we always try and put ourselves together, come back and reorganise.

“And if you don’t reorganise your house obviously you cannot build confidence in the minds of the people. I do not want anybody to lose sleep because this is purely politics and obviously we enjoy it.

“There is no issue of camp in the PDP if not the party would have broken into camps long time. So the issue of camp is not there but I have made it clear that whatever is happening is politics and is not unusual at all.”

However, in his assertion about the recent Court of Appeal judgment in Port Harcourt, River State over the authentic National Chairman of the PDP, which upheld Ali Modu Sheriff as the National Chairman, Odey said the situation should be seen as a wake-up call.

“The situation now should be a wake-up call for all members of PDP to realise the fact that this is politics. First and foremost PDP members should respect the law and the rule of law will always prevail, and respect the court. Luckily for PDP there is still another step forward, which is the Supreme Court”, he stated.
