LG Elections: Gov Dankwambo Starving Us Of Funds, Gombe PDP Alleges

Barely 48 hours to the local government election in Gombe State, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has accused Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of starving them of funds to conduct campaign activities, saying the development led to the aborted grand rally in Gombe yesterday.
A member of the party’s State Working Committee (SWC) who plead¬ed  anonymity disclosed to LEADERSHIP yesterday that while the opposition All Progressives Congress(APC) are busy penetrating the grassroots campaigning the PDP being the ruling party in the state is yet to reach out to its supporters due to lack of funds.
The SWC member re¬gretted that apart from the contestants that paid registration funds the governor and other elected members under the platform of the party have not made any contribution towards Saturday’s local government election.
While admitting that the party is really collapsing under the heavy weight of financial crunch, the insid¬er source revealed that many of the supporters are waiting for the election to be over to move to the APC. “ Governor Dankwambo has killed PDP in the state, the party that brought him to power.”
“The financial situation is so bad  that the party cannot even organise a rally towards the forthcoming election, we are just  struggling to see that we fuel our cars to travel to our wards for the  election,” the source revealed.
