Barely two weeks ago, after suspected Fulani herdsmen engaged security agents in a gun battle killing two police officers at Ohoro community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, the remains of one of the officers that was killed has been found.

It would be recalled that suspected Fulani herdsmen had engaged security agents in a gun duel leading to the mission of two officers, an inspector and a corporal.

While the inspector was found dead days after, his junior colleague was nowhere to be found. An encounter the police authority denied out rightly.

The inspector was last weekend buried at his home town, Uromi in Edo State and on that same day information got to the command that, the composing body of the missing corporal has been found at a nearby village of Besegha an Ijaw community.

A police source that spoke on anonymous condition said, “The Fulani herdsmen sent a woman to our oga that they should come and carry the remains of our decomposing colleague. When they got there, they could not carry his corpse because of its state of decomposition”.

It was gathered, the dead officer whose name is yet to be known was a corporal and he hails from Kwale in Delta State. According to a source in Ohoro community: “The corpse was discovered by someone from the Besegha community who later contacted the Agadama community chairman who in turn, informed the DPO, Ughelli ‘A’ Division.

“The DPO drafted some of his officers to recover the corpse, but till now, the corpse is still there and we don’t know what is going on there”. All attempts to speak with state police public relations officer, Andrew Aniamaka was fruitless initially but later called to confirm the incident.
