Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has assured members of the Senate that President Muhammadu Buhari is hale and hearty and will back in the country very soon.
Saraki, who returned from London on Monday evening, made the disclosure on Tuesday while briefing the Senate on the outcome of a visit by the leadership of the National Assembly to President Buhari, who is on medical vacation in the United Kingdom.
LEADERSHIP reports that both the Senate and the House Representatives resumed from a three-week partial recess after the budget defence exercise by ministries, departments and agencies of government (MDAs) before standing committees of both chambers.
Saraki had read pending letters to the Senate from Buhari on the extension of his vacation in London and acting President Yemi Osinbajo requesting the confirmation of Justice Walter Onnoghen as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) and the nomination of an additional ambassadorial nominee.
“Further to the correspondence from Mr. President, let me also use this opportunity to brief my colleagues on the visit I led a delegation of myself, the Honourable Speaker and the Majority Leader to visit Mr President Buhari on Wednesday 15th of February to convey the greetings and best wishes of the National Assembly and I am happy to report that we met the President in good spirit, in good health, chatty as usual and convey his best wishes and hopes to be back very soon,” Saraki reported.
LEADERSHIP recalls that before the National Assembly’s delegation visit to London last week Wednesday, both Sarakk and Speaker Yakubu Dogara had penultimate week announced that Buhari separately called them on phone, an indication that he was hale and heart
