The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC), FCT Command, has warned those operating illegal private guards companies in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to desist from the act or be ready to face the consequences.
A statement signed by the public relations officer to the command, Akinbinu David and made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday said that the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Patrick Ukpan has advised such companies to register their activities properly with the Corps for proper monitoring, training and retraining of their security personnel.
Ukpan noted that proper monitoring of security personnel of private guard companies by the NSCDC would prevent them from recruiting criminals, who will in turn become a security threat to those they are supposed to protect.
While urging residence of the FCT to report any one tempering with government critical infrastructure to the authority, Ukpan also commended residence for sharing information with the Corps, which has assisted in the fight against crime and criminality.
He warned that the NSCDC, FCT Command will not relent to bring the full wrath of the law upon anyone that takes laws into his/her hands in the name of recession, adding that ignorance is not an excuse to crime.
