Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Najeem Salaam has blamed the increasing rate of recorded deaths among the citizenry on nonchalant attitude of people  to their health.

The Speaker who charged the people to take their health serious lamented that curable ailments were claiming lives because of the abandonment of proper medical checks.

According to him, it is high time people of age and those who are approaching maturity got to know that health could not be compromised for any other engagement in life, reiterating that life is sacrosanct.

Addressing hundreds of people who trooped to the venue of medical checks he and GRA Rotary club facilitated in Ejigbo, the Speaker asserted that government alone could not provide everything needed in the health sector.

He urged the privileged in each community and other progressive clubs to join hands with the government on health care delivery.

Salaam said poverty has reduced people to appetitive stage, making the health care secondary; noting that it was a lose-lose situation for everyone, because government would be compelled to spend more on drugs and infrastructure to treat critical cases, while patients would be in permanent pain for curable sickness.

He stressed that he chose to support the Rotary club, because he was enthused on its mobile healthcare delivery it has embarked on; promising that the partnership would have the medical team to crisscross Ejigbo and Local Community Development Authorities (LCDAs) for the benefit of the masses.
