Sultan, Danjuma Sue For Peace Among Religious, Ethnic Leaders

Former minister of Defence, Gen Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma and the Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar III has called for continued unity and peaceful coexistence among religious bodies and tribal groups in Nigeria.
The two personalities spoke yesterday in Wukari, during the occasion of felicitating with the Aku-Uka of Wukari on his 40th years anniversary on the thrown as the King of Jukuns.
Danjuma in his speech said his presence in Wukari was to celebrate the Aku-Uka of Wukari Dr. Shakarau Angyu the II.
He praised the paramount ruler for his effort to ensure that peace continues to reign in his kingdom.
He urged traditional rulers in Nigeria to seek opportunities that would bring lasting peace among their subjects.
On his part, the Sultan of Sokoto Sa’ad Abubakar called on the religious and political leaders to always engage in dialogue in time of disagreement.
He explained that the traditional rulers particularly from the northern part of Nigeria are fully aware of the current communal crisis between the herdsmen and farmers across Nigeria.
He further stated that both the traditional and religious leaders within northern Nigeria have been having sleepless nights to ensure that they engage all the important organs involved in the crisis for a dialogue in order to stop the ongoing crisis across the country.
He informed that the recent herdsmen/farmers in Benue, Kaduna and Taraba states were worrisome and must be contained to ensure peace for development in Nigeria.
He emphasized that both Christianity and Islam forbid violent and encourage peace, adding that the ongoing incessant killings in some parts of the country must stop
