
The acting president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday, paid tribute to the legacies of former head of state, the late General Murtala Mohammed, eulogizing the late leader’s patriotism.
Speaking at the 2017 Murtala Muhammed Memorial Lecture organised by
the Murtala Mohammed Foundation (MMF) in Abuja, the acting president called for a new Nigeria where national interest would supersede personal ones.
Osibanjo said, “What we need is a new Nigeria where men and women are prepared to put the national enterprise first. As has been re-echoed by the earlier speakers, this is what Murtala Mohammed lived for.”
Also present was the former president, General Olusegun Obasanjo (rtd) who succeeded late Gen. Muhammed in office.
General Olusegun Obasanjo who serves as the chairman of the board of trustees of the Murtala Mohammed Foundation commended his predecessor for his leadership qualities.
